Gravhøje

Gravhøje

Before that time there were many grave hills in the area, and in Plougstrup the burial mounds have been close, even much closer than elsewhere in the country. Many highs have been leveled with the earth over time, in 1906 there were 68 giant graves in Jernved parish and today there are only approx. 10 tilbage.

Most of the highs are from the Bronze Age, but there are also found stone tools in some burial mounds. So almost 5000 years back in time the area has been inhabited.

Højen Sortehøj is located at the house Plougstrupvej 87 and on the opposite side of the road lies Plovshøj and Frishøj close to the krattet down to Kångeåen.

Længerere ude just off the border of Holsted Municipality lies on the right-hand Tobøl group. Wherever one is Rishøj the most significant high in the area and another 2 highs.
